Arguing from evidence is an important practice in:
- The Next Generation Science Standards, Science and Engineering Practice 6 (Constructing explanations) and Practice 7 (Engage in argument from evidence)
- The Common Core State Standards in Mathematics Practice 3 (Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others)
- The Common Core State Standards in ELA, ELPD Framework Practices 1 and 3 (Support analysis with evidence and Construct viable and valid arguments from evidence and critique the reasoning of others.)
This workshop will focus on examples of argumentation from evidence in elementary ELA, math, and science. NOTE! Teachers from any grade level are welcome, but the examples and focus will be from elementary grade levels.
