In this session, you will quickly learn the basics of using Socratic Seminar as a tool for student-led discussion and then dig into strategies for deepening student engagement, tracking student participation, and evaluating student contributions. We'll wrap up with looking at a few variations on the Socratic Seminar to meet the diverse needs of your students.

An assessment capable learner says "I know where I'm going, I have the tools I need to get there, and I monitor my own progress". In this class you'll be given time to unpack strategies developed by Nancy Frey, John Hattie, and Douglas Fisher in order to apply them to your own practice.

Understanding Smarter Balanced Testing Accommodations and Designated Supports

Selecting the appropriate Accommodations and Designated Supports for Smarter Balanced testing can impact the student’s future and the type of High School diploma the student can receive. Using the most recent Guidelines on Tools, Supports & Accommodations we will discuss frequently used Accommodations and Designated Supports and common pitfalls. How the Accommodations and Designated Supports are reported in Bremerton’s new Special Education software system, Power IEP will be explored.
