Arguing from evidence is an important part of Math, ELA, and Science practices. In this session, we will explore structures and strategies to incorporate student argumentation from evidence into each step of the engineering design process. This session is for any teacher K-12 with an interest in engineering projects.

The United States Naval Academy in Annapolis has created a fabulous week long summer STEM camp for educators. Both presenters were recently chosen to attend, and will be sharing hands on, K-12 STEM activities you can use in your classroom, as well connections to Navy applications. Interested in attending SET SAIL at the USNA? We can talk about that, as well!
Once Upon a time there where some very tiresome teachers that greatly wanted to incorporate engineering design process into a Kindergarten classroom, only to find that most of the materials they had did not meet the needs of their students. This class is about how my team and I designed an age appropriate engineering challenge. Participants will learn about how my team and I took TPT materials and intertwined them with our ELA, Math, Social Emotional, and Engineering practices to help create a dynamic unit of study. Will you find the happily ever after? Join this session and see.

This class is for 5th grade teachers desiring to participate in the elementary ROV project during the school year. We incorporate engineering design and process, force from motors (thrust), density, buoyancy and ballast into the project. We work to meet NGSS standards 3-5-ETS1, 2 and 3. Teachers will be asked to work in teams and build an ROV just like students.
